I have been looking out for something other than another cafetière or one use Coffee filter kits for my Sunday morning ritual of Coffee / French bread and he leftover take-away from the previous night. So I’ve amassed a few 1-cup and 3-cup cafetière, but not been able to find a good quality 2-cup version locally.
So when I saw this Pour over coffee maker I knew I needed to try it out. It’s a 600ml (2 cup/ 20oz) glass container that comes with a stainless steel micro filter. It’s a nice size, as it fits nicely under my hot water dispenser and give great slow dripped coffee in a few minutes. As it comes with a Micro filter you don’t need a paper filter, though I usually add one as it’s easier to keep clean and trap a lot of the fine grained coffee grounds that leak in and makes a good coffee a bitter last few sips. I use a big mug that holds 400ml so the 300ml coffee and an extra 100ml for some frothy milk the Pour over Coffee maker is perfectly sized . I can put in 600ml and make enough for 2 good mugs. It keeps the heat in nicely. So using 90c water to make the coffee, by the time all 600ml is filtered through the coffee it’s still at a nice drinking temperature.
Their is a “neoprene” cuff around the middle of the glass jar, to give you something to grip and protection form the heat when the glass is filled with hot coffee. The only down side of this is the cuff is non-removable. (It might be possible to remove but you risk breaking the Glass trying to take it off and put it back on). I’d prefer if it was a removable cuff that you could wash separately. But it’s not that hard to dry out with a few squares of kitchen paper between the cuff and the glass to help. But if you rinse out the Glass jar after every use you should not need to get the cuff wet too often.
All in all it’s a stylish Coffee Maker with a good quality Stainless Steel permanent filter, I like it and it’s getting a lot of use.
I was kindly given a discount so I could purchase the “GROSCHE Austin Pour Over Coffee Maker 600 ml 20 oz. Includes permanent Stainless Steel Pour over Micro-Filter” for a review. My views are my own and not influenced by anyone.
